Thrifty Finds Thursday

One of my favorite past times is to hit up the thrift stores where I usually find some good stuff.
This trip was no exception! I wish I could take it all home but with a little house, there's only so much space to fit it all in. I may have to redecorate (also known as "tearing up the house" in my husband's words) just to to have an excuse to bring a few of these home ;)

How cute is this bar cart?!

Media stand, dresser, babys changing table. SO many options for this piece.

I LOVED this art deco dresser! Those pulls are amazing.

Another bar cart, possibly? Or even a small table if you have the right space for it.

This was one of my favorite pieces of the night. It's a bit hard to see in the picture but it was an antique chinoiserie sideboard (I think). Unfortunately, it appeared the previous owner had painted over the piece - hardware and all. I would have loved to have seen it in its original state. The only thing that kept me from bringing it home was the huge price tag. At $600, I will love you from a far.

Cute little stool for the bedroom or entry way. Minus the go-lucky green upholstery.

Moving on to the wicker portion of this post....

Mid century TV stand.

Another amazing settee I wish I had time to reupholster!

This next piece was a first for me. I've been to a lot of thrift stores and have seen a lot of stuff but this was my first time encountering a METAL dresser. I've heard of them and have even read about other bloggers finding them so when I saw this one, I was kinda excited.

It wasn't in the best shape unfortunately. And I didn't have the slightest idea how to refinish a metal dresser besides painting it. And why would you paint a metal dresser in the first place?? So I moved on with a slightly sunken heart.

An easy upholstery opportunity for anyone looking for an accent chair.

Another mid century piece.

And to end our little thrift trip, we have a wicker chest.

So many amazing finds, yet no space to put them.
I better start moving some stuff out of the house!

I stopped by here with my mom while I was home for Christmas, and I almost bought that bar cart! If I remember correctly, it needed a bit of love -- but what good thrift find doesn't?

I LOVE the stool (although I agree, I'd definitely change out the green, furry fabric)!

Actually, while I'm thinking about it, while I passed by the bar cart, I did pick up a huge (maybe 2' x 3') gold ornate framed mirror.

It looks something like this:

It was like $5 or $6 and is definitely one of my best thrift finds.

Jess - Yes, the bar cart was in need of some TLC. I just call it character haha.

And great find on the mirror! I'm always checking their stock for something ornate like the one you found. Lucky!

is this awesome looking thrift store anywhere near Eau Claire? I am from EC and my parents still live there. I love to thrift in the Appleton area where I now live, and would love some suggestions for the EC area as well! Thanks!

Kristen,

Yes, this thrift store is called Hope Bargain Center and it is located on the west side of EC. I'd also recommend a place I just visited for the first time and loved it. It's called Dell's Architectual Antiques which is located more downtown. I'll also stop into Antique Emporium which has some really unique antiques. Happy hunting :)
