Thrifty Find: Coffee Table

Yet again, another post about a thrift find. What can I say, I love it!
This time I found myself a coffee table.

I hope I'm not doing an overkill with the bamboo inspired furniture pieces.
But there is something about those legs that I love. (Enter, Steve Carell joke here)

I'm contemplating painting the table a color or staining it to a darker wood to match my other furniture pieces. Input anyone?

I Could Kick Myself

Literally. I could kick myself at this very moment for not buying these beautiful antique end tables.
Sorry for the grainy picture. It was taken on my phone while I was browsing the local thrift store.

The clean lines and brass loop pulls had me at hello and yet, I did not buy them.
My husband and I were leaving for a trip to Phoenix the next day so I thought I'd wait and see if they would be there when I returned but a friend informed me they were gone. Buuuummmer.

I envisioned these beauties in glossy white with new, shined up pulls.
Kinda like the side table in this Plantation ad:

Yup. Kicking myself.

Updated Living Room Pictures

This weekend I finally got around to updating my living room pictures.
It has been awhile since my living room has looked like this:

I would call this phase, 'country, modern, chic.'

Well seasons have changed as well as my decor taste so here is the new (more modern) layout:

Happy Monday everyone!

Fun Find: Ralph Lauren Lighting

I just love it when high end decor shows up at TJ Maxx.
I found this beautiful wall sconce-like fixture sitting shoved behind all the table lamps.

I had three reasons to love this light:

1. It's brass. And I love all things brass.

2. I know if you don't already have the proper wiring for a sconce, this is a simple solution as it has a wall plug in. There for, no need for you electrician to stop by.

3. It was made by Ralph Lauren.

Who knew TJ Maxx carries Ralph Lauren light fixtures??
And for a fraction of retail price I might add.
Well, this girl knows now!

I can't wait to get this hung in my office!
It will go above our DIY desk that's in the making at the moment.

Happy Friday!

Mood Board: Creating From Art

I always find it easier to create a room around something that you love.
Just for the fun of it, I thought I would make up a room by starting with this lovely piece created by Natasha Barnes. It's called Abstract in Green II. You can purchase a print copy here.

And here is the room based off the art:

I always love virtual decorating!

DIY: Roman Shade

This weekend I took on the task of making my own roman shade  for the bathroom as opposed to buying one. Simply for the fact that I can't find one I like with out it costing $300. It was clearly time for some DIY at this point.

So here is how it went....

I started off by using the existing roman shade hanging in the bathroom. I was so over the whole bamboo thing so all I was going to steal from it was the hardware and the liner.

I then covered the liner with left over fabric to cut to size.

For this next part I used spray adhesive and carefully attached the fabric to the liner. I had to pull up the fabric in a few spots to avoid bumps so make sure you go slow during this process.

When that was done, I took the hardware from the my old shade and hand stitched them on to the back of my new one. And don't forget to place them in the same spot as the old shade so the strings will line up properly.

After the hardware was in place, I used my sewing machine to hem the sides of the shade. For the last step, I used a staple gun to attach the top of the shade to the wood mount.

And here is my practically FREE roman shade:

It makes the room so much brighter now that the dark, wood shade has been removed.
